5% generating 95% of the attention

An interesting data point. At Yale, University of Missouri, Dartmouth, Oberlin, Evergreen, and all the other universities currently being plagued by vocal anarcho-Marxists (well, more properly, anarchic postmodernists), it is a tiny minority of students who are asserting their racist coercive screeds on everyone else. But how small? Is it 30%, 20%, 10%? I have been estimating that it is between 1-5% given that most of the demonstrators seem to be some subset of African-American students and LGBT activists judging from protest photographs.

But that has been purely a guestimate based on estimated extrapolations from possibly unrepresentative photographs of semi-staged protest events.

From The Evergreen State College: No safety, no learning, no future by the Seattle Times editorial board. The editorial itself is an appropriate condemnation of the racism, violence and intolerance being displayed by the protestors. Here was the passage that caught my eye.
Evergreen President George Bridges and his administration need to assure future students and their parents that academics come first — and not acquiesce to the 200-or-so student protesters at the expense of the 4,000-student campus. Without safety, there’s no learning, and without learning, Evergreen will wither into irrelevance.
I don't know how they arrived at the 200 number but they certainly are far closer to the protests than I can be. 200 represents the upper limit of my estimate - 5%.

Nice to see some semi-confirmation of what I had been treating as a very tentative estimate. And I am guessing that in reality, at most universities not nearly as leftwing as Evergreen, that across most universities the number is a lot closer to 1% than 5%.
