Time obliterates the fictions of opinion

The Works of Samuel Johnson No. 106 Saturday, March 23, 1751, quoting Cicero.

Opinionum commenta delet dies, naturae Confirmat.

Time obliterates the fictions of opinion, and confirms the decisions of nature.
It seems like half our political discourse and much of the ranting of the nether reaches of academia are simply railings against the "decisions of nature."

Alternative: Believe what you want to believe but reality will have its way.

Echoes of Daniel Patrick Moynihan.
You’re entitled to your own opinions. You’re not entitled to your own facts.
